Public / Private Premises

This category is very wide and applies to any type of accident which occurs on premises (buildings or land) owned by another person, company or authority (i.e. from a local shop or supermarket to hotels, government buildings to a friend or relatives house).

Duty of the landowner or occupier
The land owner or occupier of the premises has a duty to ensure that visitors will be reasonably safe in using the premises. If an accident occurs on the premises, the owner/occupier will be liable to pay compensation if the hazard or danger was something that he should have warned the visitor of or that he/she could have reasonably guarded against.

Warning signs will not always be sufficient for the owner/occupier to escape liability and you should contact Select Claims to see if you have a claim following such an accident.
